As mobile devices slowly take over PCs, Apple today unveiled the iPhone 5. According to Jony Ive, Senior Vice President of Design at Apple, “We don’t want to just make a new phone; we want to make a much better phone.”
The iPhone 5 has completely been revamped, it’s much longer, thinner, and faster. With its new A6 chip, two times faster and 22% smaller than the A5 version. The chip change contributes to a much slimmer and lighter phone. The device is 18% thinner at 7.6mm vs. the 4S, which is 9.3mm. The iPhone 5 weighs 112 grams compared to the 4S’s 140 grams. The new phone will also feature the 4G network or what they call ‘LTE wireless technolog’, vastly improves the connectivity and download speed compared to the previous iPhone devices.
Apple also expanded the length of the iPhone 5, now with a 4-inch Retina display which boasts 326 pixels per inch. The pixel density is so high that it would be difficult to even point out each pixel.
Other features of the new phone: FACETime HD camera for face-to-face calls. 1080p HD video recording with the iSight camera. Panorama feature which creates a high-res up to 28 mega pixel image. The phone will also come with the newly redesigned EarPods, which was highly researched with comfort and sound quality in mind.
